The Main Library was established simultaneously with the establishment of the same University. Activity began its November 3, 1954. Operating status of the Main Library in detail in the appendix to the Ministry of Higher Education Ordinance of 20 April 1955 year (Official Journal of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Central Admissions Committee dated. May 20, 1955 No. 6, pos. 41). The collection consisted of the approximately 28 thousand. volumes. Library collections continual expansion. The library specialist since 1990 transformed into a universal library. Information about the collection was systematically transferred to the Central Catalogue of Foreign Serials in Libraries Polish and Central Catalogue of Foreign books to the National Library, and since 1996 - also on the website of the Library.
From January 2, 1993 Computer began cataloging collections in the IAC.
